Djarbeng began his professional boxing career in 2005. He won his first 19 fights, including notable victories over former world champions Juan Manuel Márquez and Nate Campbell.
In 2010, Djarbeng challenged for the WBO Asia Pacific lightweight title against Takahiro Aoh. He won the fight by unanimous decision and became the new champion.
Djarbeng successfully defended his title twice before losing it to Takahiro Ao in a rematch in 2011.
In 2012, Djarbeng won the WBA International lightweight title by defeating Antonio DeMarco. He successfully defended the title once before losing it to Jorge Linares in 2013.
Djarbeng has continued to fight at a high level and has won several more fights since then. He is currently ranked among the top 10 lightweight boxers in the world.
