Danso made his professional debut on March 8, 2008, with a knockout victory over Joseph Lamptey. He won his first 10 fights, all by knockout, before suffering his first loss to Jorge Linares in 2010.
Despite the loss, Danso continued to fight and eventually earned a shot at the WBC Lightweight Championship. He defeated then-champion Jorge Linares in 2018 to win the title.
